TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Minister of Industry (Menperin) Agus Gumiwang Kartasasmita said that the Indonesian government will soon issue electric motorcycle incentives. This aims to encourage increased performance of the automotive industry this year.
"God willing, in the near future (electric motorcycle incentives) will be issued," said Agus in his official statement, as quoted by Gooto today, Monday, February 17, 2025.
The Minister of Industry revealed that the production of two-wheeled vehicles has currently reached 6.91 million units. Then, the national motorcycle sales performance also grew by 6.33 million units.
Meanwhile, exports of motorcycles in the form of CBU (completely built up) have now reached 572 thousand units, followed by exports of CKD (completely knocked down) of 46 thousand units, and exports of part by part of 153 million units.
"Through this performance, many small and medium industries have been involved," Agus explained.
The Minister of Industry appreciated the increasing number of new automotive brands entering the Indonesian market. This is believed to be able to expand the automotive market in the country.
However, Agus reminded manufacturers not to only import, but also to encourage strengthening domestic production including optimizing TKDN (Domestic Component Level) to empower national industries, especially small and medium industries.
"After that, we can explore a wider export market," Agus concluded.
