TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Ministry of Defense (Kemenhan) spokesperson Frega Ferdinand Wenas Inkiriwang said the ministry has imposed administrative sanctions on a defense ministry civil servant whose child hit four people with a car in Palmerah, West Jakarta. The sanctions include the revocation of their official license plates, which will not be renewed.

"Then the car was using a civilian license plate. It is currently at the West Jakarta Police Station," said Frega at the Ministry of Defense office in Jakarta on Friday, January 31, 2025.

He said that the vehicle used by the child of the defense ministry civil servant was a private car. However, the private vehicle was fitted with the ministry's official license plate. Therefore, the ministry has revoked the civil servant's license plate.

The Ministry of Defense said it will not intervene in this case and will leave it to law enforcement.

Later, this case was peacefully resolved. Frega said he was not aware of the information. However, he said that as the perpetrator of the offense, the individual had a good intention to take responsibility. "Perhaps they had the goodwill to offer assistance to the victims' families," he said.

The accident occurred on Monday, January 21, 2025. It initially started when the officer's car driven by MSK with the ministry's official license plate 6504-00 was moving from the north to the south in Palmerah, West Jakarta on Monday.

Upon arriving at the location around 01:30 a.m., the perpetrator, MSK, then hit a person with the initials TR (25) who was unloading goods on the side of the road. After that, MSK fled and turned onto Jl. West Palmerah Raya. MSK then hit a motorcycle being ridden by TN (22).

Not stopping, the perpetrator continued to drive his car until he was near the pharmacy. Upon reaching the location, the perpetrator finally swerved and hit a Daihatsu minibus from the opposite direction.

Later, this case was peacefully resolved. Head of the Law Enforcement Unit of the West Jakarta Metropolitan Police Traffic Corps AKP Joko Siswanto said the issue had been resolved amicably.

Even though he had previously been named a suspect, MSK and the victims agreed to settle the case through peaceful means.

"We applied 'restorative justice' based on an agreement between the parties involved," said Joko on Thursday, January 30, 2025, as quoted from Antara.
