TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - The Bromo Tengger Semeru National Park Authority (TNBTS) has completely closed all tourist access to Mount Bromo to facilitate firefighting efforts in the area, effective Saturday at 10:00 PM WIB (Western Indonesian Time).

TNBTS Head Rudijanta Tjahja Nugraha stated in an official release received in Malang City, East Java, that the closure decision was based on current conditions on the ground, noting that the fire in the Bromo Caldera area was spreading.

"To ensure the effectiveness of firefighting efforts, tourist visits to Bromo via all entry points have been suspended," Rudi said.

Tourist access to Mount Bromo involves five entry points across four regencies: Cemorolawang in Probolinggo Regency, Wonokitri in Pasuruan Regency, Jemplang and Coban Trisula in Malang Regency, and Senduro in Lumajang Regency.

Beyond firefighting effectiveness, the closure also takes into account the safety and security of all visitors.

"The closure remains in effect until further notice," he stated.

TNBTS confirmed that tourists who had already purchased entry tickets via the online booking system for dates coinciding with the closure period would be allowed to reschedule their visits.

Additionally, the TNBTS Authority is offering travelers the option of a refund.

Visitors will be required to complete a form available on the online booking website.

Rudi urged all tourism service providers to temporarily suspend any activities within the TNBTS area.

"This is for the sake of our collective safety and security," he said.

A video uploaded by TNBTS to its official Instagram account shows flames blazing along a cliff face near the Tengger Caldera Ring Road (JLKT) area.

In the video, an officer reports that the fire is also spreading toward Mount Kursi, which is located within the TNBTS area.
