TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - State-owned bus operator DAMRI is preparing 300 buses for its free homecoming (mudik) program during Eid 2025, accommodating more travelers than last year. DAMRI’s head of corporate communication Atikah Abdullah said the company aims to transport 14,400 passengers, up from 11,424 in 2024, when it deployed 238 buses.
“This year, we expect a 26 percent increase in participants, adding 2,076 passengers and 62 extra buses,” Atikah said in a written statement on March 7.
A total of 78 state-owned enterprises (SOEs) are joining the program, with the Ministry of SOEs targeting 100,000 participants. Three transport modes—buses, trains, and ferries—will be available. The bus service will operate 1,360 vehicles for 67,000 passengers, while 90 train trips will serve 28,000, and 26 ferries will transport 5,000.
Passenger registration for the free homecoming program is open from March 3 to March 17, 2025. The Ministry of SOEs has also released the official departure schedule for each mode of transport:
Buses will depart on March 27
Trains will operate between March 25 and March 28
Ferries will set sail on March 28
The 2025 Eid holidays and collective leave were set in a joint decree by the ministers of religious affairs, labor, and administrative reform on October 14, 2024, establishing 17 national holidays and 10 collective leave days.
According to the Ministry of Religious Affairs' Islamic calendar, Ramadan 1446 Hijri begins March 1, 2025. Eid al-Fitr falls on March 31 and April 1, followed by collective leave from April 2 to April 7.
