
TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Deputy Senior Governor of Bank Indonesia, Destry Damayanti, stated that the resignation of Perry Warjiyo from the position of Governor of Bank Indonesia was voluntary due to personal reasons. She mentioned that the resignation letter was submitted on July 25, 2026.
"In connection with the voluntary resignation of Mr. Perry Warjiyo from the position of BI Governor due to personal reasons on July 25, 2026," Destry said during a press conference at the Bank Indonesia office in Central Jakarta on Monday, July 27, 2026.
Destry explained that based on Article 48 paragraph (1) letter a of Law Number 23 of 1999 concerning Bank Indonesia as last amended by Law Number 4 of 2026 concerning the Development and Strengthening of the Financial Sector, the Board of Governors in the Board of Governors Meeting on July 26, 2026, appointed her as the acting Governor of Bank Indonesia. The appointment refers to Article 50 paragraph (2) of the Bank Indonesia Law.
She emphasized that Bank Indonesia will continue to carry out its duties and authorities to maintain the stability of the rupiah exchange rate, preserve the stability of the payment system, and contribute to maintaining the stability of the financial system to support sustainable economic growth.
Destry also stated that Bank Indonesia will continue to prioritize good and professional institutional governance in fulfilling its mandate. According to her, the central bank will continue to collaborate and coordinate with the government according to their respective duties and authorities.
