TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - The Corruption Court Panel at the Central Jakarta District Court declared that a former clerk at the East Jakarta District Court, Rina Pertiwi, was guilty of accepting bribes in PT Pertamina's land execution.
"Sentencing the defendant to four years imprisonment," said chief judge Eko Aryanto during the verdict hearing at corruption court on Monday, March 3, 2025.
In addition, the panel of judges also imposed a Rp250 million fine on Rina Pertiwi. If the fine is not paid, it will be substituted with imprisonment for three months.
Rina's prison sentence is the same as the public prosecutor's demand. Meanwhile, the fine is smaller than the demand of Rp500 million.
The panel of judges also mentioned several aggravating factors in Rina Pertiwi's verdict. Firstly, she did not contribute to the government's anti-corruption program. The defendant also did not admit her guilt.
In addition, the panel of judges also mentioned mitigating factors. "The defendant behaved politely during the trial."
Rina Pertiwi was found to have violated Article 5 paragraph (2) of Law Number 31 of 1999 concerning Corruption Eradication as amended by Law Number 20 of 2001 (Corruption Law) in conjunction with Article 64 paragraph (1) of the Criminal Code.
This case originated in 2014. At that time, the heirs of A. Soepandi sued Pertamina over land disputes on Pemuda Street, Rawamangun, East Jakarta. The dispute resulted in a cassation decision by the Supreme Court, which ordered Pertamina to pay compensation.
However, the compensation payment has not been realized, so Ali Sopyan, one of the heirs, tried to expedite the execution of the decision by seeking help from several parties, including Rina Pertiwi.
The public prosecutor stated that Rina Pertiwi approved the request. She was issued a summary of the execution request letter submitted to the East Jakarta District Court in February 2020. The Chief of the East Jakarta District Court then disposed the letter to Rina for the execution.
