TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - The Central Jakarta Metro Police deployed 2,460 joint personnel to guard the ongoing demonstration of 'Indonesia Gelap' on Friday, February 21, 2025.
The areas surrounding the National Monument Horse Statue to the front of the State Palace became the primary focus of the joint personnel.
The Central Jakarta Metro Police Chief Commissioner Susatyo Purnomo Condro, stated that the joint personnel were deployed to secure the situation while several 'Dark Indonesia' alliances expressed their aspirations.
"Carry out the ptotest peacefully, do not force your will, and do not damage public facilities," he said in an official statement this morning.
The joint personnel consisted of various parties, Susatyo said, including Jakarta Metro Police, Central Jakarta Metro Police, the military, local government, and other relevant agencies.
He urged the field coordinators of the protesters to deliver speeches respectfully and avoid inciting chaos among the attendees.
"The personnel involved in the security operation will not carry firearms. Please respect and be considerate of other road users passing by the National Monument Horse Statue roundabout and other nearby locations," said Susatyo.
Susatyo also mentioned the potential for traffic diversion. He stated that it would be decided based on the developments and dynamics of the protest. If the number of demonstrators is not too large, traffic is expected to be normal as usual.
"If the crowd is quite large and the situation escalates, then traffic flow will be diverted. Residents passing around the National Monument are advised to find alternative routes to avoid traffic congestion around the Horse Statue," said Susatyo.
