TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - The Disaster Victim Identification (DVI) team of the West Java Police has identified six of the eight victims who died in a series of accidents at the Ciawi Toll Gate. The bodies of the remaining two victims are still undergoing the process of matching ante-mortem and post-mortem data.
"Two of the victims suffered 100% burns, and we are still waiting for DNA samples from their families," said Comr. Nariyana, Head of the West Java Police Medical and Health Division, in a written statement on Thursday, February 6.
Nariyana further explained that the DNA data of the unidentified victims has been submitted to the National Police Headquarters for further analysis.
The fatal chain collision, which occurred on Tuesday night, involved seven men and one woman. Additionally, 11 others were injured, including the truck driver who caused the crash.
The six identified victims of the Ciawi Toll Gate accident are:
- Yana Maulana (42), a resident of Sukasirna Village, Cikole District, Sukabumi Regency. Identified through fingerprint analysis and personal belongings found on the victim.
- Budiman (45), a resident of Cipetir Village, Padang Sunan Village, Cidadap District, Sukabumi Regency. Identified through fingerprint analysis and personal belongings found on the victim.
- Asep Fardilah (40), a resident of Cidadap Village, Cidadap District, Sukabumi. Identified based on fingerprint data, medical records, and personal belongings.
- Fika Agustina (16), a resident of Rasamala Village, Cianjur. Identified through fingerprint data, medical records, and personal belongings.
- Supardi (39), a resident of Cidadap Village, Cidadap District, Sukabumi. Identified through fingerprint data, medical records, and personal belongings.
- Rahmat Gunawan (53), a resident of Ranca Mulih Village, Cidadap, Sukabumi. Identified based on fingerprint data, medical records, and personal belongings.
Earlier, it was reported that eight people were killed and 11 others were injured in the accident at the Ciawi Toll Gate in Katulampa Village, Bogor City, on the night of Tuesday, February 4. The collision was caused by a truck loaded with mineral water dispenser jugs, which is suspected to have experienced brake failure and collided with vehicles waiting to pay their e-toll fees.
Bogor Police Chief Comr. Eko Prasetyo stated that the truck was traveling from Ciawi toward Jakarta. "It is suspected that the driver lost control of the vehicle, causing it to crash into the line of vehicles that were waiting to pay the e-toll," Eko said on Wednesday, February 5.
The accident resulted in damage to six vehicles: the truck and five passenger cars. Three of the cars were burned, while two were severely crushed. All the damaged vehicles have been towed and are now being held at the Bogor Police Station near the Ciawi 2 Toll Gate.
