TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - The Head of the Labor Desk at the National Police Criminal Investigation Agency (Bareskrim Polri), Brigadier General Moh. Irhamni, stated that the recent wave of layoffs stems from global dynamics and economic conditions affecting the business world. Irhamni said that the global situation and strategic environmental developments impact the national situation, including business sustainability.
According to him, this situation has forced some employers to carry out layoffs. "We cannot avoid layoffs in a global situation like this. Strategic environmental developments affect the national situation, forcing employers to carry out layoffs," Irhamni said after a press conference at the Directorate of Special Economic Crimes at Bareskrim Polri on Thursday, July 23, 2026.
Irhamni mentioned that the Police Labor Desk works to help cushion the impact of layoffs by facilitating the resolution of industrial relations disputes. He added that the public can report industrial relations issues to the Police Labor Desk units located at National Police Headquarters, Regional Police, and Resort Police offices.
"With the presence of the Police Labor Desk from Headquarters down to the Regional and Resort Police levels, the hope is that any industrial relations issues can be reported to us," he said.
Previously, the Police Labor Desk, together with the Ministry of Manpower, mediated a dispute over the termination of 134 former employees of PT Amos Indah Indonesia. The mediation resulted in the company agreeing to pay Rp12.7 billion in compensation.
Irhamni stated that the payment of compensation, including severance pay, resulted from an agreement between the workers and the employer. "This agreement becomes a win-win solution for both parties, both the employers and the workers," he said.
