TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - The Jakarta Metropolitan Police has denied the circulating rumors that an aide to the former Deputy Attorney General for Special Crimes, Febrie Adriansyah, was fatally shot. According to the circulating narrative, Febrie's aide or driver was shot in the Cipete area, South Jakarta.
Head of Public Relations of Jakarta Metropolitan Police, Grand Commissioner Budi Hermanto, stated that the accuracy of the information has been confirmed by the Chief of the Criminal Investigation Unit of the South Jakarta Metropolitan Police. The police verified that the information was a hoax.
"So far, we have confirmed with the Chief of Criminal Investigation of South Jakarta that it is a hoax," Budi told reporters at the Jakarta Metropolitan Police Headquarters in South Jakarta, on Monday, July 27, 2026.
The issue has spread on social media and in WhatsApp chain messages. One of the individuals who spread it is the owner of the @kementerian_kurangajar account on Instagram. "After Febrie's housekeeper was allegedly murdered, the news is that Febrie's aide was allegedly shot by a mysterious person. The body has not been found!" the account wrote.
Previously, a man named Sutrimo, who was recently found dead in South Jakarta, was also associated with Febrie. The native of Banyumas, Central Java, was found dead on Thursday, July 23, 2026, around 09:00 AM local time in Kramat Pela, South Jakarta.
Based on information gathered by Tempo, Sutrimo, 42 years old, allegedly served as the head of the household at Febrie's residence. On the day of the incident, around 07:30 AM local time, the deceased complained of feeling unwell to a friend and requested to be taken to the nearest hospital.
The friend then took Sutrimo to the Mordent Beauty Clinic in the Kramat Pela area, South Jakarta. While at the clinic, Sutrimo was reported to have vomited and frothing at the mouth. The friend then requested an ambulance. However, when the ambulance arrived, Sutrimo had passed away.
The Jakarta Metropolitan Police investigators stated that they will trace the connections of the victim with several other parties, including the former high official. "Still under investigation," said Budi in his statement on July 26, 2026.
Febrie Diansyah, the lawyer of Febrie Adriansyah, claimed not to have any information about Sutrimo's status as his client's household worker. According to him, they will wait for the police investigation results regarding this matter. "It's better to wait for the official statement from the Jakarta Metropolitan Police," he said in a short message on Monday.
