TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - President Prabowo Subianto met Indonesia's 10th and 12th Vice President Jusuf Kalla on Tuesday, February 4, 2025. According to Agriculture Minister Andi Amran Sulaiman, the meeting was held at the Presidential Palace, Jakarta, and the two discussed farmers' grain absorption, the green revolution program, and community empowerment.
Andi Amran said that Jusuf Kalla provided input on several matters to President Prabowo Subianto. “[Jusuf Kalla] gave input due to his rich experience,” he said, adding that the former VP gave good advice.
When asked if the meeting also discussed the 3-kilogram LPG gas policy, Andi dismissed the question, stating that the inquiry must be directed to the Minister of Energy and Mineral Resources Bahlil Lahadalia.
Meanwhile, the green revolution is a movement that aims to increase food production by using modern technology in agriculture. The green revolution in Indonesia took place during the New Order era, from the 1960s to the 1980s.
The government also issued a policy on energy subsidy distribution, where liquefied petroleum gas (LPG), or the 3-kg subsidized LPG, will no longer be distributed by retailers from February 1, 2025.
However, the measure is met with disapproval, as people face difficulties accessing the LPG, causing the government to backtrack.
