TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - President Prabowo Subianto held a limited meeting with several ministers and agency heads to discuss various strategic issues at the Presidential Palace Complex in Jakarta on Monday, July 27, 2026.
Minister of Higher Education, Science, and Technology Brian Yuliarto arrived at around 12:50 p.m. Western Indonesian Time (WIB). According to him, the meeting with Prabowo concerned the progress of strategic programs, particularly in regard to universities.
"I don't know yet, we'll see, as the summons is for 01:00 p.m. Of course, it's related to strategic programs, because Pak President always advises that universities must back up all strategic programs," said Brian.
Brian said he couldn't say much about the meeting, as it had yet to commence, but Brian said his side had prepared data related to programs at universities if required.
"I have prepared data on how our campus programs are ready to provide support in terms of studies and research, because Bapak President wants every policy to require valid data," he explained.
Regarding discussions about establishing the University of the Republic of Indonesia (URI), Brian denied this.
"No, I don't think so," he said.
In addition to Brian, the Minister of Investment and Downstreaming and CEO of Danantara, Rosan Roeslani, and the Head of the SOE Organizing Agency (BP BUMN) and COO of Danantara, Dony Oskaria, were also present.
