TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - President Prabowo Subianto requested that officers who worked hard and made sacrifices while handling the earthquake in East Nusa Tenggara (NTT) receive proper recognition and appreciation.
Prabowo asked the governors and regents to take note of their subordinates who work hard, work properly, and make sacrifices in carrying out their duties.
"Once again, brothers and sisters, check, check your hard-working subordinates, take note. Our people, your subordinates, are all hard-working, working properly, and making sacrifices," Prabowo said while leading a coordination meeting on handling the impact of the NTT earthquake in Tonggurambang Village, Mbay, Nagekeo Regency, NTT, on Wednesday, as quoted by ANTARA.
According to him, those who have worked hard and made sacrifices need to receive awards as a form of appreciation for their contributions. "Those who work hard, those who make sacrifices, are recorded, and we must reward them," he said.
The President emphasized that the award should be more than just thanks; it should also have a tangible aspect that the recipient can feel. "And we tangibly give that appreciation. Sometimes, just saying thank you isn't enough. That's better than saying no, but there has to be tangible evidence," he said.
The President said that the effort to give the award was part of the leader's responsibility to appreciate people who work for the benefit of the community.
Prabowo hopes regional heads can ensure that people who work properly and make sacrifices for the people receive the appreciation they deserve. "Earlier, someone said, the Regent said at 12:00 midnight, the Governor who worked hard, this was noted," he said.
On that occasion, Prabowo also expressed his gratitude to all parties who had worked hard and reacted quickly to handle the earthquake disaster in the region.
BNPB noted that, as of Tuesday, August 25, the number of victims who died due to the 7.7-magnitude earthquake that struck the Nagekeo Regency area in NTT on Saturday, August 15, at 5:58 a.m. local time had increased to 103.
