TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - President Prabowo Subianto has inaugurated Sudaryono as Head of the National Nutrition Agency (BGN) at the State Palace in Jakarta on Wednesday afternoon, replacing Nanik S. Deyang after her resignation earlier today.
Sudaryono's inauguration is based on Presidential Decree Number 78P of 2026 concerning the Dismissal and Appointment of BGN Head, which was signed by President Prabowo on July 22, 2026.
Prabowo led the oath-taking ceremony. "I will remain loyal to the 1945 Constitution of the Republic of Indonesia and will adhere to all laws and regulations in the best possible manner for the service of my nation and state," read the oath of office taken by Sudaryono.
Following the oath-taking ceremony, Sudaryono signed the minutes of the inauguration, witnessed by President Prabowo. The president also signed the minutes.
President Prabowo then congratulated Sudaryono and his family on his inauguration.
Several state officials attended the oath-taking ceremony, including Coordinating Minister for Food Affairs Zulkifli Hasan, Coordinating Minister for Human Development and Cultural Affairs Pratikno, Coordinating Minister for Political and Security Affairs Djamari Chaniago, and Speaker of the People's Consultative Assembly (MPR) Ahmad Muzani.
On a separate occasion, Sudaryono's appointment was first announced publicly by presidential spokesperson Prasetyo Hadi earlier today.
"The President has decided on the replacement for BGN head, Bapak Sudaryono, who currently serves as Deputy Minister of Agriculture," Prasetyo said during a press conference at the Presidential Palace in Jakarta on Wednesday.
Sudaryono, he said, would not hold any concurrent positions, as he would be appointed as the definitive leader of BGN.
Sudaryono was chosen by Prabowo because he was involved in developing the concept and technical discussions of the free nutritional meal (MBG) Program.
"He has been involved in the conceptualization of the Free Nutritional Meals Program since the beginning, and he has also worked with us to discuss and formulate the technical implementation of the program," Prasetyo said.
Another added value for Sudaryono is his experience as the Deputy Minister of Agriculture, since the MBG program is closely linked to food material distribution.
According to Prasetyo, the Ministry of Agriculture is part of the ecosystem that provides food for beneficiaries of the free nutritious meal program.
