TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Swiss Ambassador to Indonesia, Olivier Zehnder, is advocating for enhanced cooperation between Switzerland and Indonesia. He hopes the two countries would continue their partnership in various fields, particularly human resources development or HRD.

"We have a great interest in Indonesia becoming a strong country and achieving Indonesia Emas (Golden Indonesia) 2045," Zehnder said during a seminar titled "Skills in Action Forum: Advancing Competitiveness" at Menara Danareksa, Central Jakarta, on Thursday, February 27, 2025.

Furthermore, Zehnder stated that Switzerland supports the development of Indonesia's industry and human resources. One of them is through vocational school training cooperation.

Zehnder revealed that this cooperation aims to develop young workers' qualifications to be competent in their respective fields.

"We need young people to find jobs that meet the economic needs. They can be integrated as soon as possible into the economy related to tourism, industry, and others," he said.

Zehnder highlighted the long-standing good relationship between Switzerland and Indonesia, citing that their collaborative efforts have lasted for 50 years.

"We are different, but we also share many values and the same interests in becoming a strong economy," he said.

Head of the Industry Human Resources Development Agency (BPSDMI) of the Indonesian Ministry of Industry, Masrokhan, affirmed the Indonesian government's commitment to developing globally competitive human resources.

Masrokhan explained that Indonesia has been cooperating with Switzerland on human resource development since 2018, beginning with a collaboration between domestic polytechnics and the Swiss government.

"We want to further enhance this cooperation in the second phase from 2024 to 2027," said Masrokhan.
