1. Indonesia Turns to Old Tax System After Troubles with New Software 

TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Indonesia's tax office is allowing taxpayers to use its old online system while it tries to fix a new system launched this year that has crashed and glitched, with users complaining of disruption to business operations.

The upgrade, called "core tax", was launched on Jan. 1, intended to improve taxpayer profiles and compliance oversight, but it has been mired by issues like data mismatches, crashing and other problems.

The old system will work in parallel with the new one and penalties will be waived on late filings caused by the disruption, according to a joint statement issued late on Monday by the tax office and the parliamentary commission overseeing the financial system.

3. Top 2 Reasons Indonesian Tourists Go on Vacation to Singapore 

TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Indonesian tourists visiting Singapore in 2024 reached 2.49 million visitors. Indonesia is the second largest contributor of tourists globally and the largest in Southeast Asia. This number increased by 8 percent from 2.3 million visitors in 2023.

Meanwhile, the number of tourists visiting Singapore in 2024 as a whole reached 16.7 million. There was an increase of 21 percent from 2023.

Area Director, Singapore Tourism Board Indonesia or STB Mohamed Hafez Marican, said there are two main reasons why Indonesian tourists visit Singapore, namely for shopping and culinary tourism. However, uniquely, Indonesian tourists do not only shop in famous areas such as Orchard Road.
