TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Tourism Minister Widiyanti Putri Wardhana personally inspected the implementation of the free health check-up program (PKG) at Tanah Abang Community Health Center, Central Jakarta. On this occasion, Widiyanti stated that this flagship government program is a birthday gift from the state to its citizens..

"A gift from the state to the people for their birthdays," Widiyanti told reporters on Monday, January 10, 2025.

She stated that this program was created to change the mindset of the people in terms of health. Shifting the focus from curative to preventive measures.

"We want to encourage to build a culture of healthy living by shifting the habit, from treating illness after it occurs to prioritizing health check-ups before getting sick," said Widiyanti.

She claimed that this free health check-up program is the government's effort to fulfill the mandate of Article 28 of the 1945 Constitution of Republic of Indonesia regarding public health. In addition, this program is also part of the 'quick win' program listed in the National Development Goals.

The government has officially launched the implementation of the PKG program today. Tanah Abang Community Health Center is one of the healthcare facilities receiving participants of this program.

According to Tempo’s on-site observations, a significant number of residents had already arrived at the health center despite the heavy rain outside.

Previously, Health Minister Budi Gunadi Sadikin stated that the PKG program targets a total of 280 million Indonesians as a birthday gift for them. The program is designed for people of all age groups, from infants and children to adults and the elderly.

“This is the largest program from the Ministry of Health and possibly one of the biggest from the government, given the massive coverage of 280 million people,” Budi said when met in Central Jakarta on Sunday, February 2, 2025.
