TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - PT Transportasi Jakarta (Transjakarta) has deployed 30 electric buses to support the inauguration of regional heads taking place today, February 20, at the State Palace in Jakarta. These buses will operate as shuttles for the officials, transporting them between the National Monument (Monas) and the State Palace.
Ayu Wardhani, head of PR and CSR at Transjakarta, stated that the buses are low-entry models. She noted that the decision to use electric buses aligns with Jakarta’s commitment as a global city striving for net-zero emissions.
“The deployment of these electric buses is part of our effort to provide environmentally friendly transportation while also supporting the Jakarta provincial government in hosting the regional head inauguration,” Ayu said in an official statement on Thursday.
Although the event takes place in an area intersecting with Transjakarta’s routes, regular services will operate as usual. However, adjustments will be made to accommodate traffic regulations during the event to ensure smooth operations for passengers.
President Prabowo Subianto is scheduled to inaugurate the elected regional heads in the central courtyard of the Jakarta Presidential Palace on Thursday morning, February 20, 2025. Deputy for Protocol, Press, and Media at the Presidential Secretariat, Yusuf Permana, confirmed that Prabowo will lead the ceremony and administer the oaths of office.
A total of 961 officials will be sworn in, including 33 governors and their 33 deputy governors, 363 regents, 362 deputy regents, 85 mayors, and 85 deputy mayors—all within a single session. Prabowo is expected to deliver a speech addressing the newly appointed regional leaders.
According to a copy of the event rundown obtained by Tempo, the ceremony will take place at the State Palace on Thursday, February 20, 2025, starting at 10:00 a.m. Western Indonesia Time (WIB). Before the event, the regional heads will first gather at the front courtyard of the National Monument before proceeding to the State Palace for the official proceedings.
