TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Streamline Studios is currently working on the project of the 'Upin & Ipin Universe' game. This project is a collaborative work with Les' Copaque Production Sdn. Bhd., which is the creator of the Upin & Ipin animated cartoon.
"We recognized this as an opportunity to expand the franchise into a fully realized open-world experience, delivering the depth and immersion fans expect from a premium console and PC game," said CEO of Streamline Studios and Streamline Media Group, Alexander Fernandez, in a written statement quoted on Monday, March 3, 2025.
Alex stated that Upin & Ipin Universe will be a transformative project for the gaming franchise and Southeast Asian content as a whole. He hopes that the game will capture the global gaming world's attention.
The Managing Director of Les' Copaque Production, Burhanuddin Md Radzi, stated that the Upin & Ipin series has become a celebration of family moments, friendship, and community. This collaboration with Streamline Media Group allows for the expansion of the story into new media.
"Giving fans the chance to engage with Upin and Ipin’s world like never before," said Burhanuddin.
According to the official Upin & Ipin Universe website, the developers also announced that players can explore various regions available on the map.
The concept of the game is similar to the Grand Theft Auto series created by Rockstar Games and others, with an interactive open world concept.
Streamline Studios has also released a 19-second teaser video on the YouTube Upin & Ipin Universe channel. The first eight seconds of the video show Tok Dalang standing, then Upin and Ipin running in front of their house.
The atmosphere depicted is daytime in the midst of a village in Malaysia, the home of Upin & Ipin and their friends.
Then, from the ninth second to the end, the video shows the game sticker with the caption "Coming soon!" Then a voice in English is heard saying, "We could play that for the whole day."
Quoting from the Streamline Studios website, players will be able to explore Kampung Durian Runtuh, the home of Upin & Ipin and their friends. The original storyline will be presented with the warmth, friendship, and family atmosphere of the cartoon.
Additionally, various interactive activities will be announced and seamlessly integrated into the game, encouraging exploration, interaction, and discovery in the open-world environment that is deeply rooted in the Southeast Asian community atmosphere.
"Developed with Unreal Engine 5, this game offers an amazing next-generation adventure," wrote on the official Streamline Studios website.
The developers announced that the game will be released in 2025. However, there is no exact date for when the game will be ready for launch.
