TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - VinFast is introducing its "VinFast Green" electric vehicle rental program through authorized dealers in Indonesia in a bid to provide commercial drivers with easier access to electric mobility without the burden of a heavy initial investment.
This initiative targets various transportation players, ranging from ride-hailing drivers and airport shuttle operators to other transit service providers who rely on daily vehicle operations for their livelihood.
To address the barrier of high upfront costs, VinFast is implementing a more flexible approach through its vehicle rental model. As reported by Antara, the scheme allows drivers to begin operating an electric vehicle with a minimal upfront commitment, eliminating the need to wait years to accumulate capital for a vehicle purchase.
The company explained that vehicle rental rates start at Rp312,500 per day. Furthermore, the program offers fixed rental rates, low down payments, and long-term contracts, which are expected to provide greater financial security for drivers managing fluctuating monthly incomes.
In addition to the rental program, VinFast also offers various financing solutions for customers who prefer vehicle ownership. The company believes this two-pronged approach reflects its understanding of the diverse financial circumstances of transportation operators.
While some drivers prioritize vehicle ownership, others require greater operational flexibility. By offering both options, VinFast states that customers can select the solution that best aligns with their business goals and cash flow constraints.
VinFast emphasizes that drivers are viewed not merely as consumers, but as business owners who require mobility solutions that support the continuity of their enterprises.
According to VinFast, for millions of Indonesians, driving is far more than a daily activity, but also a source of income. Various operational decisions, such as route selection, trip frequency, fuel costs, and maintenance needs, directly impact a driver's take-home pay.
Amid the steady rise in urban mobility, the manufacturer believes that the profitability of transportation businesses is ultimately determined by the net income a driver can retain. This economic reality has made electric vehicles increasingly attractive to the public, as they are seen as a tool to reduce operational expenses and boost overall efficiency.
VinFast stated that it is building an electric vehicle ecosystem tailored to the practical needs of drivers, incorporating structural flexibility through rental schemes. This initiative aims to help lower operational costs, drive efficiency, and support the long-term sustainability of their businesses.
The Vietnamese automaker stated that the overarching goal of this program is to lower the primary hurdle drivers face when transitioning to electric vehicles: the relatively high initial capital expenditure.
For independent drivers and small-scale transit operators, allocating substantial capital to purchase a new vehicle remains a challenging financial decision, despite the clear potential for long-term savings.
