116 Palestinians in Gaza Reportedly Killed in Israeli Fire Since Ceasefire Deal

TEMPO.CO, JakartaIsraeli fire killed at least four Palestinians in Gaza on Sunday, March 2, 2025, bringing the death toll since the ceasefire deal between Hamas and Israel to 116.

According to Gaza’s Health Ministry, as quoted from Anadolu, six more people were injured in Israeli attacks across the enclave. Thus, the number of injured Gaza residents rose to 490.

A medical source said on Sunday morning that a woman was killed and two others were injured in an Israeli drone strike in the Al-Farahin neighborhood in eastern Khan Younis in southern Gaza.

Another Palestinian was killed and two others were injured by Israeli sniper fire in Rafah, also in southern Gaza. While two more lost their lives in unmanned aircraft attacks in the northern city of Beit Hanoun.

The Israeli army claimed that the attacks targeted suspects who were believed to be operating near its forces.

The first six-week phase of the ceasefire deal, which took effect on January 19, officially ended at midnight last Saturday. However, Israel has yet to agree to the second phase of the agreement.

Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu sought to extend the initial exchange phase to secure the release of as many Israeli hostages as possible without offering anything in return.

Hamas has refused to continue under these conditions. They insist that Israel comply with the ceasefire terms and immediately start negotiations for the second phase, which includes a full Israeli withdrawal from Gaza and a total cessation of hostilities.

The ceasefire agreement has halted Israel’s genocidal war in Gaza, which has claimed more than 48,380 victims, mostly women and children, and left the territory in ruins.

Last November, the International Criminal Court (ICC) issued arrest warrants for Netanyahu and former Defense Minister Yoav Gallant for war crimes and crimes against humanity in Gaza.

Israel also faces a genocide case at the International Court of Justice (ICJ) for its war in the enclave.
