
TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Three people were killed in a garbage landslide at the Bantargebang Integrated Waste Treatment Site (TPST) in Bekasi City on Sunday, March 8, 2026. The Head of the Jakarta SAR Office, Desiana Kartika Bahari, stated that the three victims included two food stall owners and a garbage truck driver.
"There are three fatalities. The victims were Enda Widayanti and Sumine, who were food stall owners, and a garbage truck driver named Dedi Sutrisno," she told reporters on Sunday.
Desiana explained that the incident resulted in several garbage trucks being buried. However, authorities are still in the process of collecting data regarding the total number of potential victims.
In a separate statement, the Head of the Bekasi City Environmental Agency, Kiswatiningsih, said they are still working to manage the waste landslide. Officials have not yet been able to determine the cause of the collapse. "We have not received detailed information and are currently still handling the situation," she said.
