TEMPO.CO, Jakarta -Indonesia's Regional Office of the Directorate General of Corrections in the Special Capital Region of Jakarta has granted Eid al-Fitr 2025 remission to 8,052 prisoners and juvenile inmates in several correctional facilities and detention centers in the capital.

Heri Azhari, stated that special remission I, which is a reduction in the sentence, was given to 7,941 individuals, and special remission II was given to 111 inmates.
"Sixty-six prisoners have been granted immediate release after receiving remission," he stated at the Class 1 Penitentiary in Cipinang, East Jakarta, on Monday, March 31, 2025.
Heri explained that the holiday remission was awarded to inmates who demonstrated good behavior. In addition to the Eid al-Fitr remission, he noted that some inmates had also received remission for Nyepi last Saturday. "Thirteen individuals were granted remission," he added.
Currently, Jakarta’s prisons and detention centers house a total of 13,042 inmates, with 2,455 held at the Class 1 Penitentiary in Cipinang.
During the 2025 Eid al-Fitr celebrations, 1,855 inmates received sentence reductions, while 34 individuals were immediately released today after being granted special remission II.
On the other hand, Cipinang Detention Center accommodates 3,546 inmates. 1,523 of them received special remission I. Cipinang Detention Center granted the most special remission II as 35 inmates were granted release.
It is noted that there are 2,400 inmates being held at the Cipinang Narcotics Penitentiary. Among them, 2,009 individuals received special remission I for Eid al-Fitr.
Head of the Cipinang Narcotics Penitentiary, Syarpani, stated that nine individuals also received special remission II but will not be immediately released today.
"Because they are serving a two-month subsidiary sentence," he said.
