TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - The fasting month is a holy month for Muslims which is always celebrated with various traditions and activities in Indonesia. One form of celebration that is usually held is the Ramadan festival, the event is widely held in various regions of the archipelago. The event is not just an entertainment event, but also a means to strengthen friendship, improve the economy, and explore Islamic values.

Every year, various big cities and regions in Indonesia hold Ramadan festivals, from Jakarta, Semarang, Makassar, to Jambi to enliven the celebration of the holy month. Here are some Ramadan festivals held during the fasting month in various regions of Indonesia.

1. North Sumatra Ramadan Festival Blessing

In North Sumatra, the local government held a Ramadan festival which was held from March 1 to April 1, 2025. This activity was held at the Selayang Swimming Pool Park, Jalan Dr. Mansyur, Medan Selayang. Various events were held, including UMKM bazaars, cheap markets, culinary festivals, and religious lectures. In addition, play areas for children were also provided.

2. Ramadan in Jakarta

Ramadan in Jakarta will be held from March 14 to 16, 2025 at six different locations, namely Lapangan Banteng Park, Tebet Eco Park, Cempaka Park, Gorontalo Park, Wijaya Kusuma Park, and the Old City Area. The festival will present a culinary bazaar, music performances, religious lectures, film screenings, and more.

3. Cirebon Ramadan Festival

The Cirebon Ramadan Festival has been held since March 8 and will end on March 23, 2025 at the Cirebon City Culture and Tourism Office (Disbudpar) yard. Here, visitors can take part in the takjil bazaar and ngabuburit on stage. In addition, there are also obrog competitions, Ramadan hijab fashion, and video content competitions.

4. Ramadan Light Festival

The Ramadan Light Festival in Solo takes place from March 1 to 31, 2025. This annual event is held at the Surakarta City Hall by spreading lanterns at 14 points around the city hall. In addition to seeing the beauty of the lanterns, visitors can also buy various takjil (a light snack or meal) or Ramadan specialties at the culinary stands provided.

5. Arakan Sahur Festival

Reporting from the official website of the Indonesian Ministry of Tourism and Creative Economy, the Arakan Sahur Festival is a tradition and culture passed down from generation to generation by the residents of Kuala Tungkal, West Tanjung Jabung Regency, Jambi which has been going on since 1966. This year, the festival will be held four times, namely on March 1, 8, 15, and 22, 2025 with different routes.

6. Ramadan Fair Medan

Ramadan Fair 19 Medan will be held from March 8 to 27, 2025. Held in two places, namely at the Grand Mosque, Taman Sri Deli, Medan Kota and Lapangan Warna-Warna Martubung, Medan Labuhan. The activities held include a culinary bazaar, competitions, religious lectures, and a grand tabligh. Not only that, there will be performances by Feby Putri, Alfina Nindiyani, and Ifan Seventeen and Band.

7. Makassar Ramadan Fest

Makassar Ramadan Fest will last for 20 days from March 5 to 24, 2025 at Taman Pakui Sayang, Jalan A.P. Pettarani. Various events will be held, ranging from stand up comedy, live podcasts, to kids and family day. This festival also provides various culinary delights for visitors to taste.

8. Jakarta Lebaran Fair

In addition to the Festival in Jakarta, the capital city of Indonesia presents another event, namely the Jakarta Lebaran Fair which will be held from March 19 to April 6, 2025 at JIExpo Kemayoran. Here, various activities will be presented, including exhibitions, culinary tours, and entertainment.
