TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - The Governor of Aceh, Muzakir Manaf, also known as Mualem, has declared the fourth extension of the emergency response status for hydro-meteorological disasters in Aceh for the next seven days, effective from January 23 to January 29, 2026.
The decision was announced during a virtual meeting to extend the emergency response status for Aceh's floods and landslides, held at the Emergency Response Post in the Aceh Governor's office on Thursday night, January 22, 2026.
In his decision, Mualem stated that this extension was based on coordination with the central government and a letter from the Minister of Home Affairs dated January 21, 2026, regarding the extension of the emergency response status for disasters in Aceh Province.
This extension follows considerations of disaster management conditions and the distribution of affected victims. According to field reports from the Regents of Aceh Tamiang, North Aceh, and Pidie Jaya, emergency disaster management remains incomplete.
"Therefore, as the Governor of Aceh, I hereby declare the Fourth Extension of the Emergency Response Status for Aceh's Hydro-meteorological Disasters for 7 days, starting from January 23 to January 29, 2026," said Mualem.
The Governor explained that the extension aims to ensure environmental cleaning, logistics distribution, health services, and community access improvements are handled quickly and coordinated, including reaching isolated hamlets.
Mualem invited all Aceh Government Work Units (SKPA), local governments, TNI/Polri, volunteers, the business community, and the public to continue working together to expedite recovery. The goal is to ensure that schools, residential areas, public facilities, and the local economy return to normal activities.
In his direction, Mualem paid attention to the community in the Sawang Subdistrict, North Aceh. He revealed that the area urgently requires the construction of at least eight emergency bridges.
"In Sawang, the community urgently needs eight emergency bridges. At present, residents are forced to cross the river manually. If the water level is low, it can still be crossed, but if the current is swift, the residents' transportation access is completely cut off," said Mualem.
In line with the declaration, the Governor of Aceh instructed all SKPA and related stakeholders to implement strategic measures in the field. The focus is on coordination with the ministry's Disaster Recovery Task Force and completing the cleaning of residential areas, places of worship, schools, and affected agricultural land.
The Governor also emphasized the importance of expediting logistics to isolated areas and prioritizing the search for missing victims, with a target to complete Post-Disaster Rehabilitation and Reconstruction (R3P) documents by February 2, 2026. "Ensure that logistics reach the isolated hamlets and complete the cleaning of public facilities and residents' land. We also have to pursue the completion of R3P documents before early February," said Mualem.
