TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - The search and rescue team has confirmed that all victims of the ATR 42-500 plane crash on Mount Bulusaraung, South Sulawesi, have been found. A total of 11 packages containing bodies or body parts of the victims have been handed over to the Bhayangkara Hospital for the identification process.
The Head of Operations and Alert Section of the Class A Search and Rescue Office in Makassar, Andi Sultan, said the last two packages were found on Friday morning, January 23, 2026, at 08:55 and 09:16 local time, respectively. "With the discovery of the last two packages, all the victims at the location have been successfully evacuated," said Andi Sultan when contacted on Friday afternoon.
According to Andi, of the 11 packages handed over, 10 packages contained intact bodies that had been preliminarily identified, while one package contained bone fragments or body parts. He said the exact number of victims is determined by the hospital through the forensic identification process.
The distribution of victim discovery locations varies. The initial two victims were found in locations far apart, while the other eight packages were around the wreckage of the aircraft. The main discovery location is about 350 meters from the mountaintop, with a radius of about 80 meters from the aircraft's body.
Andi said that all the body packages have now been successfully evacuated from the incident site. The search operation has been declared concluded, and the team in the field is waiting for all personnel still at the mountaintop to descend. "After all personnel have gathered, we will conduct a debriefing or evaluation before the team returns to the base," he said.
In the manifest data, the ATR 42-500 aircraft, which was found to have crashed after losing contact, was carrying 10 people. There were seven aircraft crews consisting of Andy Dahananto as the captain and pilot, Farhan Gunawan as the co-pilot, Hariadi in the position of the flight operation officer, and two aircraft technicians, Restu Adi P and Dwi Murdiono. The cabin service was run by two cabin crew, Florencia Lolita and Esther Aprilita S.
Meanwhile, the three passengers on the aircraft were employees of the Ministry of Maritime Affairs and Fisheries (KKP) who were on duty, namely Ferry Irawan as an Analyst of Vessel Supervision, Deden Mulyana as the Manager of State Goods, and Yoga Noval who served as an Aerial Photo Operator. The three of them were going to conduct maritime patrols in the Makassar region.
