TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - I Gusti Ngurah Rai International Airport in Bali has expanded its global connectivity by adding new international flight services to China and South Korea.

General Manager Ahmad Syaugi Shahab announced that two new international carriers have begun operations: Sichuan Airlines, connecting Denpasar to Chengdu, and T'Way Air, linking Denpasar to Cheongju.

"We welcome the arrival of Sichuan Airlines and T'way Air, which are operating for the first time at I Gusti Ngurah Rai Airport," Syaugi said in a statement on Sunday, September 28, 2025. "The direct connection to Chengdu and Cheongju opens up new opportunities for tourists from China and South Korea to easily enjoy Bali."

T'way Air launched its inaugural flight from Cheongju (CJJ) to Denpasar (DPS) on Thursday, September 25, 2025, with flight number TW157. The aircraft landed at 23:54 Central Indonesian Time (WITA).

The return flight, TW158, departed for Cheongju on Friday, September 26, 2025, at 01:09 WITA with 159 passengers.

"This route will be regularly served twice a week on Thursdays and Sundays, using a Boeing 737 MAX 8 aircraft," Syaugi added.

Sichuan Airlines first landed on Bali on Friday, September 26, 2025, carrying 181 passengers from Tianfu International Airport, Chengdu (TFU).

The inbound flight (3U3985) arrived at 21:35 WITA, and the outbound flight (3U3986) departed at 22:58 WITA with 108 passengers. "This flight is scheduled to operate regularly every day," he noted.

Syaugi emphasized the strategic value of the Chengdu route, calling China "one of the main international tourism markets for Bali." He highlighted the country's significance, stating, "China has always been a significant contributor to the number of foreign tourist visits to Bali.

Throughout 2025 until August, the service to Chinese nationals reached 393,825 people, making it the third most visited foreign nationality in Bali."

The addition of these two routes enhances the airport's commitment to providing excellent service and smooth operations. With the entry of these two airlines, I Gusti Ngurah Rai Airport now serves 42 international routes with 47 airlines.
