TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - The Directorate of Drug Crimes at the National Police Criminal Investigation Unit (Bareskrim) arrested four Aceh residents in a drug trafficking case. The police confiscated evidence in the form of 135 kilograms of crystal methamphetamine, or crystal meth. The illicit goods are suspected to have come from Thailand and are connected to the network of Fredy Pratama, a drug lord who is still a fugitive from the police.
"Initial investigation, there is a strong suspicion that the goods are connected to Fredy Pratama," said the Director of Drug Crimes at the National Police Criminal Investigation Unit, Brigadier General Mukti Juharsa, Tuesday, February 11, 2025.
Mukti said he would re-confirm Fredy Pratama's relationship with the disclosure of the crystal meth. The method is to trace the financial transactions and assets of the suspects during their activities. "If traced, it will definitely end up leading to Fredy Pratama," he said.
Mukti said the drugs were smuggled by sea. The four suspects have the initials I, F, E, and M. The arrests took place at Ujung Biang Beach, Anggar Barat Laut Village, Lhokseumawe City, on Monday, February 10, 2025.
He said, based on the suspect's confession, the crystal meth would be taken to Medan City, North Sumatra by land. Then it will be distributed to Jakarta and other big cities in stages.
Mukti added that investigators will still investigate the disclosure of this drug case. He could not yet detail what the role of the suspect was and how the large amount of crystal meth could have entered Indonesian territory.
"Later we will release the full details, this is still being investigated," he said.
