TEMPO.CO, Tangerang - A female passenger was banned from flying and forcibly removed from the aircraft after claiming to have a bomb on a Batik Air flight Soekarno-Hatta Airport - Manado.
"The guest was not allowed to continue the flight, and was taken off the plane to be handed over to the relevant authorities," said Corporate Communications Strategic of Batik Air Danang Mandala Prihantoro in a written statement on Wednesday, April 16, 2025.
Danang explained that the incident occurred before the departure of flight ID-6272 from Soekarno-Hatta International Airport, Tangerang (CGK), to Sam Ratulangi International Airport, Manado (MDC) on Tuesday, April 15, 2025.
At that time, Danang said, a female passenger with the initials FA who was sitting in seat 11E made a statement containing a threat. " She claimed to have brought a bomb to one of the cabin crews (flight attendants) while the aircraft was still in the preparation process for departure."
In accordance with standard operational procedures (SOP) for flight safety and security, the cabin crew immediately reported the incident to the captain and aviation security personnel.
The airline finally decided that the passenger was not allowed to continue the flight. The passenger was then removed from the plane to be handed over to PPNS (Civil Servant Investigator) at the Civil Aviation Authority (Airport Authority Region I) of Soekarno-Hatta International Airport and the Soekarno-Hatta Airport Police for further handling and processing.
Flight ID-6272 continued after undergoing additional safety checks. In the inspection, no suspicious items or bombs were found, and it was declared safe by the relevant authorities.
Furthermore, Danang reminded that any statements, jokes, or jokes containing bomb threats, terrorism, or violence in the airport and/or aircraft environment are very serious and strictly prohibited.
This is regulated in Law Number 1 of 2009 concerning Aviation, Article 437, which states that anyone is prohibited from providing false information that endangers flight safety, including joking about bringing a bomb.
The perpetrator, said Danang, may be subject to criminal sanctions with a maximum sentence of one year in prison and can be increased to eight years if it causes operational disturbances of a flight.
Regarding this, Danang ensures that Batik Air, along with all parties involved in flight operations, is committed to maintaining flight safety, security, and comfort as a top priority.
"We invite all guests to comply with all applicable regulations, including the prohibition of joking about bombs, in order to create a safe, orderly, and comfortable flight for everyone," said Danang.
