TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - PT Bank Central Asia Tbk (BCA) has reported news of leaked customer data to the Indonesia Stock Exchange. The Bjorka hacking group claimed to have gained access to 890,000 accounts and 4.9 million BCA databases a few days ago.
"We confirm that the information is not true. We assure that BCA customer data remains safe," said BCA Corporate Secretary Raymon Yonarto to the Indonesia Stock Exchange on Monday, February 10, 2025.
Raymon stated that the company consistently advises the public to be cautious of individuals claiming to represent BCA and various fraudulent schemes. He also reminded customers not to share confidential banking information such as BCA ID, password, one-time password (OTP), and personal identification number (PIN) with anyone. "Customers are also encouraged to change their PIN and password regularly," he said.
Furthermore, Raymon mentioned that the company always secures data by implementing security standards and necessary risk mitigation to protect customers' digital transactions.
BCA customer data became the target of the Bjorka hacking group. The group claimed to have access to 890,000 accounts and 4.9 million BCA databases.
The warning was posted by the account X (Twitter) @bjorkanesiaa, which also mentioned the official BCA account. "@BankBCA a surprise for the banking sector in Indonesia, if they do not respond to this promptly, BCA will experience a massive data breach," as written in the Bjorka account on Wednesday, February 5, 2025.
Bjorka also raised the possibility that several major banks in Indonesia could become targets of ransomware or system hacking by various hacker groups. Hence, they urge banks and customers to be vigilant. "We, Bjorka, will always inform you if your country is being monitored by the Ransomware Group, and they prioritize banks."
