The Chicago Bears have extended the contract of GM Ryan Poles despite his less-than-stellar results in the role.
Since being hired in 2022, Poles has overseen the Bears going just 15-36 with no playoff appearances.
The team has also finished last in the NFC North in each of those seasons.
Nonetheless, Chicago appears to feel confident in Poles moving forward, as they've inked him to a new five-year deal according to multiple reports.
As noted by NFL Network's Ian Rapoport, the extension means that Poles is under contract through 2029, aligning him with recently hired head coach Ben Johnson.
Poles made his biggest splash as Bears GM in March 2023, when he traded away the No. 1 overall pick to the Panthers for receiver D.J. Moore, the ninth overall pick that year, a second-round pick, a first-rounder in 2024 and a second-round pick in 2025.
The 2024 first-rounder turned into the first overall pick, which Poles and the Bears used to draft quarterback Caleb Williams last year.
Chicago went just 5-12 last year but Williams showed promise, throwing for 3,541 yards and 20 touchdowns against just six interceptions.
