TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - The dismantling of the 3.3-kilometer sea fence in the waters of Kampung Paljaya, Segara Jaya Village, Tarumajaya District, Bekasi Regency, began on Tuesday, February 11, 2025. This dismantling was carried out independently by PT Tunas Ruang Pelabuhan Nusantara (TRPN) and is targeted to be completed in 10 days. "We use excavators and heavy equipment," said PT TRPN's Attorney Deolipa Yumara, to reporters in Bekasi.
The dismantling of the sea fence was supervised by the Ministry of Maritime Affairs and Fisheries (KKP). The Director General of Marine and Fisheries Resources Supervision (PSDKP) Pung Nugroho Saksono said that his party would supervise the dismantling of the fence until it was completed. "We supervise it every day," said Pung at the location.
Pung said that the dismantling of the sea fence was an administrative sanction for violations of the use of marine space and reclamation without a permit carried out by PT TRPN. "Yes, it must all be dismantled. There are also fines," he said.
Administrative sanctions are imposed based on Government Regulation Number 21 of 2021 concerning the Implementation of Spatial Planning, Government Regulation Number 85 of 2021 concerning Types and Tariffs of PNBP in the Ministry of Marine Affairs and Fisheries, and Ministerial Regulation Number 31 of 2021 concerning the Imposition of Administrative Sanctions in the Maritime Affairs and Fisheries Sector.
However, even though the dismantling is targeted to be completed within 10 days, Pung said that his party still appealed for the process to be carried out by prioritizing the safety of the parties involved. "But we also look at the weather, just like the sea fence in Tangerang, the weather is also an obstacle, with weather like that, lives will be lost. Lives are more valuable than sea fences. We prioritize safety," said Pung.
