TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - The Meteorology, Climatology, and Geophysics Agency (BMKG) forecasts that rain will pour over parts of Jakarta during New Year’s Eve on Tuesday, December 31, 2024.
Referring to the weather forecast published by BMKG on Monday night at 7:00 p.m. local time, thick clouds will loom over the region throughout Tuesday morning.
The weather in Central Jakarta, South Jakarta, and East Jakarta will be cloudy in the afternoon, while overcast weather persis in the rest of Jakarta.
For the rest of the day, BMKG forecasts drizzle to fall in South Jakarta, West Jakarta, and East Jakarta. Jakarta's air temperature today is predicted not to exceed 31 degrees Celsius, while the lowest temperature is 25 degrees Celsius.
The humidity level is around 80-95 percent, and the winds blow northwest at 10-25 kilometers per hour.
BMKG head Dwikorita Karnawati previously said rainfall in various regions in Indonesia will pick up in early to mid-January 2025.
“High rainfall exceeds 150 millimeters per 10 days, especially after the first week to the second 10-day period in January 2025,” she said in a virtual press conference on Sunday, December 29, 2024.
Rainfall that can exceed 500 millimeters in one month is at risk of triggering hydrometeorological disasters such as floods and landslides.
According to Dwikorita, some regions must be warned of the increased rainfall next month, including parts of Banten, West Java, Central Java, South Sulawesi, and East Nusa Tenggara, as well as the Central Papua region.
