BMKG Predicts Afternoon Showers in Jakarta

7 hours ago 13

TEMPO.CO, Jakarta The Meteorology, Climatology, and Geophysics Agency (BMKG) predicts heavy rain accompanied by lightning and strong winds will pour over parts of Jakarta and its surrounding areas (Jabodetabek) from afternoon to evening today, Friday, May 16, 2025. The local-scale rain forecast is for parts of West Jakarta, East Jakarta, South Jakarta, Tangerang Regency, Depok City, Bekasi Regency and City, and Bogor Regency and City.

According to the 24-hour weather forecast released by BMKG at 7:00 PM (WIB) yesterday, early Friday morning, almost all of Jabodetabek was heavily clouded. Only the Thousand Islands received light rain.

From 07:00 AM to midday, the cloudy skies gradually brightened. However, at that time, moderate rain is likely in West Jakarta, South Jakarta, the City of Bogor, and Bogor Regency.

The rain-affected area expands towards late afternoon until 7:00 PM. Light category rain will fall in three administrative areas of Jakarta, and then in Tangerang City and South Tangerang City. As emphasized by BMKG earlier, moderate to heavy rain, potentially accompanied by lightning, will fall during this period.

The average air temperature in Jabodetabek is not expected to exceed 24 to 32 degrees Celsius, except in Bogor, where it will be at least 20 degrees Celsius. The air humidity level in Jakarta and a small part of West Java is still relatively high, around 70-95 percent.
