TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of Danantara Indonesia, Rosan Roeslani, stated that Danantara is still considering the plan to merge Garuda Indonesia and Pelita Air.

"The main idea is to improve efficiency, productivity, and optimize existing assets, both in terms of flight hours, aircraft parts, and others. Everything is being evaluated," said Rosan at the Presidential Palace, Jakarta, on Tuesday, September 16, 2025.

State-Owned Enterprises (SOE) Minister, Erick Thohir, stated that the Ministry of SOEs will follow Danantara's policy regarding the merger of Garuda Indonesia and Pelita Air. He mentioned that the role of the Ministry of SOEs is to provide approval at the end of the process.

According to Erick, Danantara will carry out the assessment and benchmarking process for the merger plan.

"We are only at the approval stage. The assessment process is with Danantara. Our principle is to support what Danantara will do," said Erick Thohir to journalists after attending a meeting with the House of Representatives' (DPR) Commission VI at the Parliament Complex, Jakarta, on Monday, September 15, 2025.

Pelita Air is a subsidiary of PT Pertamina (Persero). The plan to merge Pelita Air with Garuda Indonesia was announced by Simon Aloysius, President Director of Pertamina. Simon mentioned that this merger is part of Pertamina's focus on developing its business in the oil, gas, and renewable energy sectors.

"We will focus on Pertamina's core business. Some businesses will be spun off, possibly under the coordination of Danantara," said Simon during a Hearing with the House of Representatives' Commission VI at the Parliament Complex, Senayan, Jakarta, on Thursday, September 11, 2025.

Previously, Garuda Indonesia confirmed that it was exploring a merger with Pelita Air. The management of Garuda Indonesia believes that the merger of the two airlines will optimize various business opportunities and strengthen the air transportation industry ecosystem.
