TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Political communication expert Hendri Satrio stated that the togetherness of Indonesian President Prabowo Subianto with the 6th President Susilo Bambang Yudhoyono (SBY) and the 7th President Joko Widodo (Jokowi) could be the beginning of the formation of the Presidential Club that has long been initiated by Prabowo.
"Mr. Prabowo is consistent. He said the country will progress if its leaders are harmonious. He has proven this. But it could also be a theory that he will establish a presidential club with Prabowo and Jokowi," said the man known as Hensa, on Tuesday, March 4, 2025.
Hensa cited their joint appearance during the launch of Danantara. According to him, the Presidential Club could be used as an informal forum to strengthen Indonesian politics.
"They appeared together at events like the Danantara launch, as if to confirm their unity for market trust and public trust," said Hensa. "This is not just a symbol, but a strategic platform to involve the legacies of previous leaders and show united strength."
The founder of the KedaiKOPI survey institution also linked the idea of the Presidential Club to the current economic and geopolitical conditions. Hensa considers the Presidential Club to be a strong signal that leaders are uniting to face challenges.
Hensa also praised Prabowo's move to often appear together with SBY and Jokowi. According to him, this step by Prabowo has never been taken by previous presidents.
"Prabowo's step is extraordinary, it has never been attempted by previous presidents, that is, to appear together," he said.
Nevertheless, Hensa did not deny that there are political motives behind their togetherness. However, he said the most important thing for the public is to see the harmony among these leaders.
"So if someone asks what might be behind the scenes? There surely is something behind the scenes. And it is very likely about economic power and political stability in Indonesia," he said.
Prabowo, together with SBY and Jokowi, has often been seen together in the past few days. Their first togetherness occurred when all three of them wore reserve component uniforms or komcad.
