TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - A video and photo collage of North Korean Supreme Leader Kim Jong Un's speech circulated on Facebook [archive] and Instagram on March 1, 2026. In the 50-second recording, Kim is seen wearing a white military uniform and delivering a fiery speech to his troops.
The post included a caption in Bahasa Indonesia: "Currently, the war between America and Iran has escalated. I have decided to assist Iran directly. Our military is now fully prepared to confront America and its allies. This is the time for us to go out and fight."

As of this article's publication, the recording had been liked more than 59,000 times, commented on by over 3,500 people, and shared at least 3,600 times. But did North Korean President Kim Jong Un really go on a rampage on March 1, 2026, and declare that he would defend Iran against Israel and the United States?
FACT CHECK
Tempo verified the recording using a reverse Google image search, a YouTube video search, and by comparing it with credible media reports. The results showed that the Kim Jong Un video originated in 2022, long before the Israeli and U.S. aggression against Iran on February 28, 2026.
Kim Jong Un’s Speech
A reverse image search found the original video on the NK News YouTube account, which rebroadcast a Korean Central Television (KCTV) broadcast. The military parade took place on April 26, 2022, to commemorate the 90th anniversary of the founding of the Korean People's Revolutionary Army at Kim Il Sung Square in Pyongyang.
In his speech, Kim Jong Un promised to strengthen North Korea's nuclear weapons program. Tempo translated a transcript of the speech from the Korean Central News Agency (KCNA), as quoted by France24.
The translation of Kim's speech is as follows:
"We will continue to take steps to strengthen and develop our nation’s nuclear capabilities at the fastest pace."

The broadcast was also translated into English by NK News correspondent Jeongmin Kim. The clip circulating on social media is taken from 1:10:40 to 1:11:03.
In English, an NK News correspondent translated it as: “Long live to our great revolutionary armed forces. Long live our great country, the Democratic People's Republic of Korea.”
Traces of North Korea's Support for Iran
Although Kim's speech was not related to the latest Israeli-U.S. aggression against Iran, North Korea is suspected of long supplying missile designs and nuclear bunker construction to Tehran. A Deutsche Welle report stated that Pyongyang has been sending tunnel experts to Iran for the past two decades. This expertise stems from the 1950s Korean War, when they built underground military facilities to evade enemy detection.
Following Israel's missile attack on Iran in June 2025, North Korea called it a "hideous act." They condemned the U.S. attack on three Iranian nuclear sites as a violation of sovereignty and the UN Charter.
"The just international community should raise the voice of unanimous censure and rejection against the U.S. and Israel's confrontational acts," the North Korean government said in a statement.
CONCLUSION
According to Tempo's investigation, the claim that North Korean Supreme Leader Kim Jong Un lost his temper and vowed to defend Iran against Israel and the United States on March 1, 2026, is false.
