TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Dozens of Facebook accounts [archived] circulated a photo collage of former Indonesian President Susilo Bambang Yudhoyono (SBY), claiming that he was being treated at a hospital in early July 2026. The accounts also wrote condolences and prayers for SBY's recovery.
In the photo collage, SBY appeared to be lying on a hospital bed surrounded by several visitors. Another image showed his eldest son, who is also the Chairman of the Democratic Party, Agus Harimurti Yudhoyono (AHY), crying.
So, did SBY fall ill in early July 2026?

Tempo's Fact Check team verified the content using reverse image searches and confirmed the information with the Democratic Party. The results showed that the photos were from events that took place before 2026. SBY was confirmed to be in good health.

The image in the upper-left corner was taken in July 2018. At the time, former Coordinating Minister for Maritime Affairs Rizal Ramli visited SBY at Gatot Subroto Army Hospital (RSPAD Gatot Subroto) in Jakarta.
The same photo had previously been uploaded by Kompas.com. SBY was treated at the hospital after experiencing fatigue following visits to East Java and Yogyakarta.

The photo showing AHY crying was unrelated to SBY's health condition. Instead, it captured the moment of Ani Yudhoyono's death in early June 2019.
The photo, taken by Liputan6 photographer Immanuel Antonius, shows AHY and his younger brother, Edhie Baskoro Yudhoyono, mourning beside their mother's coffin. Ani Yudhoyono passed away after battling leukemia for four months.

Democratic Party Secretary-General Herman Khaeron confirmed that the sixth President of Indonesia was in good health. When the issue circulated, SBY was attending the National Technical Guidance event for Democratic Party factions across Indonesia in Pacitan, East Java.
He urged social media users not to spread false information regarding SBY's health.
"Mr. SBY is actively painting and attending events held by the Democratic Party faction," Herman said via WhatsApp on Wednesday, July 8, 2026.
