TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - The Indonesian government will provide a 50 percent discount on electricity prices in June and July 2025. Coordinating Minister for Economic Affairs Airlangga Hartarto stated that this discount is one of six government subsidy and assistance plans that will start on June 5, 2025.
"A 50 percent discount on the electricity tariff during the months of June and July 2025 is aimed at 79.3 million households," Airlangga said in a written statement on Saturday, May 24, 2025.
Airlangga announced this plan during a meeting at his office. He had invited officials from various ministries to this meeting on Friday, May 23, 2025, to discuss providing these incentives. According to him, each ministry is currently preparing its specific rules for these programs.
The electricity price discount will be for households that use less than 1,300 VA of electricity. Airlangga explained that this support is intended to help people afford more goods and services.
In addition to the electricity discount, Airlangga mentioned that the government will also offer transportation subsidies, including lower prices for train tickets, plane tickets, and sea travel fares during school holidays. Furthermore, the government will provide discounts on toll road fees for about 110 million drivers, which will be available during the same period.
The government will also increase the allocation of social assistance in the form of food staple cards and food aid, targeting 18.3 million Beneficiary Families (KPM) for June-July 2025. The fifth incentive is Wage Subsidy Assistance (BSU) for workers earning below Rp 3.5 million or the provincial minimum wage (UMP), as well as for honorary teachers. As the sixth stimulus, the government will extend the program offering discounted Occupational Accident Guarantee (JKK) premiums for laborers in labor-intensive sectors.
