TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Hamas acknowledges not having received the proposed ceasefire plan in Gaza from U.S. President Donald Trump. This statement from Hamas comes after the Israeli newspaper, Haaretz, cited sources stating that Hamas had agreed to release all Israeli hostages it was holding. In return, the release of hundreds of Palestinian prisoners and the gradual withdrawal of Israeli forces, based on Trump's plan, are proposed.
The proposal also includes an end to Hamas' control in Gaza. Israel is also said to agree not to annex the territory and expel Palestinian residents living there, according to Haaretz, as cited from Al Arabiya.
"Hamas has not been presented with any plan," stated a Hamas official who requested not to be named.
In his comments to the press on Friday, Trump mentioned being close to a deal regarding Gaza. However, Trump did not provide details about the content of the agreement and its schedule. Israel has not responded to Trump's comments.
Trump is scheduled to meet with Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu on Monday, who leads a hardline right-wing coalition government that opposes ending the conflict in Gaza until Hamas is destroyed. Trump also stated on Friday that negotiations regarding Gaza with Middle Eastern countries are intensive and will continue as necessary.
Trump's special envoy, Steve Witkoff, stated that the U.S. president had presented a proposal to the leaders of several predominantly Muslim countries this week, including a 21-point Middle East peace plan.
The proposal was submitted amid the ongoing battle in Gaza. The Israeli military stated that its aircraft had targeted 120 locations across the strip in the last 24 hours, while its forces continue to press on the city of Gaza. The Palestinian Ministry of Health reported 74 fatalities in Gaza in the past 24 hours.
Approximately 780,000 Palestinian residents have been evacuated from the city of Gaza in the southern Gaza Strip, according to the Israel Defense Forces (IDF) on Saturday, September 27, 2025, as cited from the Times of Israel. The evacuation is taking place as the military intensifies its offensive to seize the largest city in the Palestinian enclave and defeat the remaining Hamas forces.
The IDF spokesperson in Arabic, Colonel Avichay Adraee, stated that the city of Gaza is beginning to empty as its residents realize that the military operation is escalating and are moving to the south for their safety.
He urges the residents to immediately move to the humanitarian area in al-Mawasi and join over 750,000 city residents who have fled in recent days and weeks for their safety.
Approximately one million Palestinian residents were estimated to be living in the city of Gaza before the IDF launched a massive assault earlier this month. Civilians have been instructed to evacuate to the humanitarian zones designated by Israel in southern Gaza. The number of Palestinians leaving the area has increased in the past week as the IDF advances further into the city of Gaza.
