TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - High-intensity rain that hit South Tangerang, Banten Province, on Monday, March 3, 2025, at 11:20 p.m., caused flooding in five districts.
The five districts affected by the flooding are Ciputat Timur, Pondok Aren, Pamulang, Ciputat, and North Serpong.
"The Regional Disaster Management Agency (BPBD) of South Tangerang Regency recorded that a total of 1,870 housing units were affected by this incident," said the Head of Disaster Data, Information, and Communication Center of the National Disaster Management Agency (BNPB), Abdul Muhari, in a written statement on Tuesday, March 4, 2025.
According to Muhari, the BPBD of South Tangerang Regency deployed rubber boats to mobilize and evacuate affected residents. "Based on visual observation until this morning of March 4, 2025, the flood has not yet receded," he said.
Early Tuesday morning, heavy rain in Tangerang Regency caused flooding in Ranca Kelapa Village, Panongan District. According to Muhari, the BPBD of Tangerang Regency reported that 20 houses were flooded, with varying water levels.
"The Tangerang Regency BPBD and the joint personnel continue to collect data and evacuate residents to the nearest safe places with their relatives," said Muhari.
The weather forecast issued by the BMKG stated that from March 4 to 6, 2025, the weather in Banten Province will be dominated by light to moderate rain.
Therefore, Muhari advised the public and local government to be alert to the potential for subsequent flooding disasters.
