TEMPO.CO, Jakarta – Indonesian badminton players Alwi Farhan, men's singles, and Raymond Indra/Nikolaus Joaquin, men's doubles, will battle for the 2026 Indonesia Masters title at Istora Senayan, Jakarta, on Sunday, January 25, 2026. The title match is scheduled to begin at 1:00 PM WIB (Western Indonesian Time).

Alwi, 20, the eighth seed, will face Thailand's Panitchaphon Teeraratsakul, a year his senior. The two have faced each other twice. Their first meeting was at the 2022 BWF World Junior Championships, where Alwi lost in straight games. He avenged his defeat in their second meeting at the 2025 Badminton Asia Mixed Team Championships.

Since their last meeting in February of last year, both players have improved significantly. Alwi is currently ranked 18th in the world, and Panitchaphon is ranked 44th. Despite his superior ranking, Alwi must remain cautious. Panitchaphon defeated top seeds Lakshya Sen of India and Loh Kean Yew on their way to the final.

A win in the final would see Alwi claim his first title of the year and his first at a BWF Super 500 tournament. He previously won two titles: the Indonesia Masters Super 200 in 2024 and the Macau Open Super 300 in 2025.

The home team has the opportunity to add to their men's doubles title haul with Raymond/Joaquin. The 21-year-old and 20-year-old pair will face Malaysia's fourth-seeded Goh Sze Fei/Nur Izzuddin in the final.

Although ranked significantly below their opponents, at 23rd, 14 spots below Goh/Nur, the Indonesian pair have a significant advantage: they defeated them in the semifinals of the 2025 Australian Open, where they won the BWF Super 500 tournament last November. If they can defeat them again, Raymond/Joaquin will win their second Super 500 title.

Malaysia, with three representatives, has the most entries in this final. Besides Goh/Nur, the other two are mixed doubles pair Chen Tang Jie/Toh Ee Wei and women's doubles pair Pearly Tan/Thinaah Muralitharan.

Thailand also has two representatives: Panitchaphon, who will face Alwi in the final, and women's singles pair Pitchamon Opatniputh. The other three representatives in the final are players from China, Denmark, and Japan.
