TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - The chair of House Commission VI, Anggia Ermarini, said the parliament is not involved in the selection of Daya Anagata Nusantara Investment Management Agency (Danantara) chief candidacy.
Anggia explained that the Danantara chief’s appointment is the government’s authority under the new State-Owned Enterprises (SOEs) Law. “This is the authority of the president,” Anggia told Tempo on Wednesday, February 12, 2025.
Danantara will manage the assets and dividends of Indonesia’s SOEs.
Anggia confirmed that the parliament was involved in the drafting of the SOEs Law amendment that stipulates Danantara, which was ratified in a plenary session on February 4, 2025.
But the DPR member said no discussions were had about who would lead Danantara during the revision process of the SOEs Law, affirming that it’s the president’s authority. “We merely discussed the clauses,” she said.
Anggia said the government will now prepare a government regulation on the formation of Danantara.
President Prabowo previously stated that he will launch the agency on Monday, February 24, 2025, during the 2025 World Governments Summit. Danantara is expected to handle up to US$900 billion in assets under management (AUM).
