TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - The IDX Composite Index (IHSG) closed with a 2.16 percent gain this week, with 8,936.7. Last week, the Composite Index reached 8,748.1 level.
"Stock trading data at the Indonesian Stock Exchange (IDX) for January 5-9, 2026, closed in the positive zone," said PT Bursa Efek Indonesia Corporate Secretary Kautsar Primadi Nurahmad in an official statement on Friday, January 9, 2026.
IHSG recorded an all-time high this week by closing at the 8,994.8 level on January 7. The next day, IHSG broke through the psychological level of 9,000 intraday, with the highest peak reaching 9,002.9.
IDX noted that the market capitalization increased by 1.79 percent this week to Rp16.301 trillion from Rp16.014 trillion the previous week.
"Moreover, foreign investors today recorded a net buying value of Rp2.56 trillion, and throughout 2026, the net buying value was recorded at Rp3.1 trillion," said Kautsar. Highest growth was recorded in the average daily trading volume this week, amounting to a 48.08 percent hike to 61.78 billion shares from 41.72 billion shares the previous week.
Subsequently, the average daily trading value at IDX also gained 44.68 percent to Rp31.45 trillion from Rp21.74 trillion the previous week. The average daily trading frequency also increased by 42.74 percent to 3.98 million transactions from 2.79 million transactions the previous week.
