TEMPO.CO, Yogyakarta - Transportation Minister Dudy Purwagandhi addressed the emergence of a new airline from Singapore, PT Indonesia Airlines Group (INA), which had claimed to have secured a flying permit. Dudy clarified that the subsidiary airline of Calypte Holding Pte Ltd, intended for international routes, has not submitted a permit application to the government, specifically the Ministry of Transportation.

"So, regarding Indonesia Airlines, up to this moment, today, as of I am standing here, there has been no permit application for Indonesia Airlines," Dudy stated in Yogyakarta on Wednesday, March 12, 2025.

Dudy expressed concern over Indonesia Airlines' unilateral announcement of having obtained a flying permit through a press release. He emphasized that the information must be clarified first with the relevant authorities.

"When a party distributes a press release, it should be confirmed with us first," he said, expressing confusion about the issue.

According to Dudy, the information disseminated in the press release contradicts the facts. "Up to now, we have not received an operation permit letter from a company named Indonesia Airlines," he clarified.

"So we once again request that if there are issues like this (unilateral press releases), please confirm with us first. We are open 24 hours so the public does not get confused," Dudy said.

PT Indonesia Airlines Group (INA) had previously announced its readiness to serve international routes after purportedly obtaining a flying permit on March 7, 2025. Indonesia Airlines CEO Iskandar stated that the airline would focus exclusively on international flights during its first five years of operation.

The airline also asserted that it would operate a fleet of modern and efficient aircraft and focus on international flights, said Iskandar in a post on Indonesia Airlines' LinkedIn page on Sunday, March 9, 2025.

In the same statement, it was mentioned that Indonesia Airlines would initially be based at Soekarno-Hatta Airport in Tangerang and would deploy 20 aircraft, including narrow-body and wide-body models. The airline planned to serve routes to 48 cities in 30 countries within its first five years of operation.

Iskandar emphasized that Indonesia Airlines would adopt an end-to-end service concept, providing passengers with a seamless and convenient travel experience from check-in to arrival. "INA has prepared the best team who have had experience in various major airlines in the world," Iskandar concluded.
