TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Indonesia has secured investment commitments worth Rp90 trillion from the United Kingdom after Prabowo's meeting with PM Keir Starmer in London, Cabinet Secretary Teddy Indra Wijaya claimed.

Teddy announced this at London Stansted Airport on Wednesday, January 21, 2026 local time, before departing for Switzerland.

"There are three takeaways from the meeting with Prime Minister Starmer, the first being an investment commitment worth 4 billion poundsterling or Rp90 trillion," said Teddy, as quoted from a video statement on the Presidential Secretariat's official YouTube account on Thursday, January 22, 2026.

He, however, stopped short of detailing more about the investments.

Prabowo's meeting with Keir Starmer also resulted in a maritime deal as well as the commitment to build 1,582 fishing vessels in Indonesia.

Teddy claimed that this collaboration could create job opportunities for hundreds of thousands of people within the country. "According to the Minister of Marine Affairs, it will employ around 600,000 people, since the construction and assembly will be done in Indonesia," said Teddy.

According to him, 30,000 jobs would open for vessel crew, 400,000 for production, and the remaining 170,000 as a multiplier effect.

Previously, Prabowo Subianto, following the meeting with Keir Starmer, conveyed the UK's support for Indonesia's plan to build more fishing vessels to enhance the country's maritime economy.

"In the maritime sector, they (the UK) will support our plan to build 1,500 fishing vessels," said Prabowo in a statement from the Presidential Secretariat on social media.

Prabowo shared hopes that the maritime deal will accelerate the economic growth in Indonesia. "This is very strategic for us. It will be a vital part of our maritime economic development," said the Grindra Party chair.

He emphasized that the majority of Indonesia's territory consists of ocean, meaning the government aims to bolster seafood consumption. "I remind you, three-quarters of our homeland consists of ocean, and the protein consumption by our people remains low, we hope to improve that," Prabowo said.
