TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - The Indonesian Minister of Investment and Downstream Industry, Rosan Roeslani, claimed to have received billion-dollar investments planned to enter the country in the first quarter of 2025.
Rosan has not disclosed the exact amount of the investment but said that most of them come from the United States. “I will say, we can close deals in the first quarter [of 2025], with billions in value. The majority come from a number of companies, including those from the U.S.,” he said on Monday, February 10, 2025.
To expedite the investment process, he said, the government is planning to revise existing regulations on business entry. According to the minister, the Be Ready World Bank survey scored Indonesia 63 out of 100 on public service quality due to convoluted and time-consuming regulations. He also mentioned that Indonesia ranks third after Vietnam and Singapore.
“It takes approximately 65 days to issue a permit, whereas it should have taken no more than 1-3 days. We intend to improve that,” he said.
Previously, Rosan Roeslani stated that the Prabowo Subianto government has set a target of Rp13,032 trillion of investment within the 2025-2029 time frame, or the first 4 years of the government's term.
The target is intended to support the government’s 8 percent economic growth by 2029. “By 2025, the investments are expected to reach Rp1,905 trillion,” he said in an official statement on Thursday, January 2, 2025.
