TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - The Chair of the Inter-Parliamentary Cooperation Body (BKSAP) of Indonesia’s House of Representatives, Mardani Ali Sera, outlined two measures proposed by the institution to pressure Israel to halt its military actions in Gaza, Palestine.
The BKSAP presented these proposals during a meeting with Saleh and Apurva from the BDS National Committee Palestine.
The first measure involves closing all Indonesian territories and waters to ships carrying products from Israel or goods destined for Israel. This step is intended as a condemnation of the humanitarian violations committed by Israel in Palestine.
“Closing access to Israeli products and ships is a concrete action against colonization and injustice,” Mardani said in a written statement on Tuesday, October 14, 2025.
H emphasized that the restriction is not only a foreign policy stance but also a humanitarian imperative and a constitutional obligation.
The second measure proposed by Mardani is to push for Israel’s expulsion from the United Nations, citing repeated violations of the UN Charter and international law.
“Israel has committed too many violations of human rights and international law without facing adequate sanctions. It is time for the world to take decisive action,” he said.
The BKSAP also reaffirmed its commitment to strengthen coordination with international institutions and global civil society organizations to support solidarity campaigns and increase pressure on Israel.
According to Mardani, the meeting with the BDS National Committee reflects Indonesia’s dedication to bolstering parliamentary and civil society networks in advocating for Palestinian independence. It also underscores the principle that humanitarian values must guide the nation’s foreign policy.
