TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Teachers assigned to oversee the distribution of the government’s free nutritious meal (MBG) program in schools will soon receive an incentive of Rp100,000 per day. The Ministry of Education and Culture is currently finalizing the scheme.
“In the future, we will create a mechanism so that teachers appointed as the Person in Charge (PIC) for distributing and checking MBG will receive Rp100,000 per day. The PIC will be designated by each school principal and rotated daily,” said Deputy Minister of Education and Culture Fajar Riza Ul Haq on Monday, September 29, 2025.
Fajar explained that the incentive policy is intended to ease teachers’ workload, particularly for honorary teachers who have long ensured the smooth running of meal distribution in schools. “This scheme will greatly help honorary teachers,” he added.
To support implementation, the ministry has also set up service centers in 16 provinces to function as Nutrition Service Fulfillment Offices (KPPG). These offices will act as regional coordination hubs for the MBG program.
The National Nutrition Agency (BGN) previously appointed the heads and sub-division heads of KPPG on August 21, 2025, assigning them to the regions to monitor program execution.
The ministry has also reactivated School Health Efforts (UKS) units, which will help oversee MBG distribution at the school level. The newly established service centers will assist in strengthening these UKS roles.
Deputy Head of BGN Nanik Sudaryati Deyang welcomed the ministry’s initiative. “This strategic move is very useful in improving and optimizing the MBG program,” she said.
