TEMPO.COJakarta - Indonesian production house Visinema Studios has officially announced that the animated film Jumbo will be released in theaters on Eid al-Fitr 2025. Directed and written by Ryan Adriandhy, the film is described as a dedication from Indonesian creators and aims to strengthen the national animation industry.

"This film deserves to be made and enjoyed by all families in Indonesia. For us, our children, and the children within us. Because the story is very beautiful," said Ryan at a press conference in Senayan, South Jakarta, on Wednesday, February 12, 2025. He emphasized that animation is the ideal medium to tell a story as beautiful as Jumbo.

The project, involving over 200 Indonesian artists, has been in development since 2019. Extensive research was conducted to create the world of Jumbo and ensure the visuals resonate with Indonesian audiences.

"If it takes five years, so be it, as long as this story is told and can be enjoyed by all my friends," said Ryan, who also serves as Head of Animation Development at Visinema Studios.

Commitment to Quality Content

On the same occasion, producer Anggia Kharisma echoed that Jumbo reflects Visinema Studios' commitment to providing high-quality content for children and families. As a mother, she expressed concern about the scarcity of children's programming that appeals to all ages.

She believes Jumbo demonstrates Visinema's responsibility as a creator with the resources and talent to develop meaningful stories. "This is 100 percent the work of Indonesian creators. We went through all the processes, and to be honest, I shed tears several times because the journey was not easy," she added.

Don and Friends' Adventures in a World of Imagination

Visinema Studios has unleashed the official trailer and poster for Jumbo. The trailer introduces Don (voiced by Prince Poetiray and Den Bagus Sasono), a child who cherishes a fairy tale book inherited from his deceased parents (Ariel NOAH and Bunga Citra Lestari). Don is raised by his grandmother, Oma (Ratna Riantiarno).

Together with his friends, Nurman (Yusuf Ozkan) and Mae (Graciella Abigail), Don plans to participate in an art performance. However, his prized book is stolen by the jealous Atta (M. Adhiyat). Don's adventure intensifies when he meets Meri (Quinn Salman), a girl from another world who needs help finding her parents (Ariyo Wahab and Cinta Laura Kiehl).

Jumbo will be released in 17 countries globally. The official poster features the main characters against the backdrop of Kampung Seruni. Don and his friends, riding modified bikes, are ready for an adventure. This Eid, Jumbo promises to take audiences on a journey that explores the meaning of family, friendship, and courage.
